Bringing a Human Rights Lens to Corporate Water Stewardship

Overview

Businesses are under increasing pressure to help fulfill internationally recognized human rights. Private sector leaders have recognized the importance of effective management systems in responding to these expectations and protecting the core resources needed in their own activities.

This report seeks to develop practical guidance for businesses attempting to navigate challenges presented by current human rights issues, while identifying opportunities for partnerships to enhance stewardship efforts. It is part of a project by the United Nations Global Compact’s CEO Water Mandate, which the Pacific Institute is co-secretariat for, to develop robust practical guidance on the human right to water and sanitation.
