New Approaches and Tools for Environmental Management: Multi-Stakeholder Workshop:

The "Forging Alliances" workshop focused on the role of Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs), public access to information, and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) as tools for sound environmental management and effective industry-community dialogue. The roughly 90 participants included industry representatives, public interest groups, government officials and other interested parties from the border region and throughout Mexico, as well as from the United States and Canada. The workshop was organized through collaboration among the Dirección General de Ecología of the State of Baja California, the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (NACEC), and the federal Instituto Nacional de Ecología (INE).
